A Carnival Kind of Love

Llewellyn and Gareth standing inside their gorgeously carnival-themed hall, beautiful done by Toni from Ludwigs Roses Events Team.

Spring has just sprung and lockdown restrictions had eased enough for Llewellyn and Gareth to be able to spend their day with their closest loved ones and friends. Still chilly for Spring, it will be a wedding to remember. Beautiful, Romantic… socially distanced and wearing masks. Definitely something these two awesome lovebirds call tell their grandchildren about one day! A truly beautiful celebration that chapters fresh beginnings as South Africa awakens and emerges from Covid19.

Gareth for all his logical, calculating genius, is probably one of the most sweetly romantic grooms Ive had the pleasure to photograph. The way he adores his Llewellyn is something that will stay with me every 1st Of September as I remember their anniversary.

The gents were in great spirits. Looking extremely dapper, they posed for their shots like legends. Indeed the fun went even further bringing #Lockdown memes to life with the coffin march. A firm favourite of Gareths from our Lockdown period. Gareth was cool, calm and ready to marry the love of his life. No serious nerves from this cool cat.

Here are some more highlights from the Gents getting ready.

The ladies were in fine spirits when I arrived and everything was running beautifully on time.

Llewelleyn was the epitome of picture perfect blushing bride. Everything was so well organised and Llewellyn and her Bride Tribe were in fine regal spirits. Dressed up they looked absolutely stunning. Llewellyn’s Dad seeing her for the first time was really emotional and we almost, nearly, almost quite did need to have a retouch of make-up. Such a sincerely emotional moment of love and affection and such a blessing to capture.

The ceremony was wonderfully authentic and sincere and the love shown for these two sweet lovebirds were beautiful to witness. Sweeter still were the sneaky hand grasps and tickles they thought went unnoticed. And who will ever forget the masks!

After Family photos, the gorgeous cake was cute before we headed off for bridal party and couple photos. The Bridal Party put in a great effort to make some really original and all-time legendary cool pics - thanks guys! You rocked it! Do click on the images to make them larger!

But who could not look at these couple photos and not just go ‘aaaah!’. The sweet, tender love and they camera-shyness these two special people had, made these images all the more authentic, real and utterly romantic. Their sincerity of their love for each other is so beautifully evident. Im so grateful I got to capture these moments for Llewellyn and Gareth.

The Reception was the most unique and original idea Ive ever come across and it certainly ensured everyone had a complete blast! Kudos to this clever duo for being so creative. Fun, pretty and entertaining = magic! And magic it certainly was.

Mari-Liza & Erhardt's Secret Elopement | 13th December 2019

‘If there’s a future to be had, I’ll gladly walk it by your side.’

Being part of Mari-Liza and Erhardt’s day was an utmost privilege and knowing I was one of the few who knew, REALLY knew - what was going to happen - made this special journey even the more special. Real. Organic and heartfelt - it was beautiful to be part of their secret and very intimate day.

The happy lovebirds got ready at home before heading over to a nearby Chapel where they were met by their parents and a local priest. Afterwards the family went for a wedding brunch to celebrate their nuptials.

Fatima & Matthew | 2nd November 2019 | Summer Place, Hyde Park

"When a man loves a woman, can't keep his mind on nothing else. He'd trade the world for the good thing he's found." -Percy Sledge

And no truer words could be said to describe the sheer devotion and adoration Matthew has for Fatima. In a truly romantic ceremony in the Rose Garden at Hyde Park, Fatima and Matthew committed their lives to each other in the sweetest, emotional ceremony.

Before the day, I did a venue "reccie" with Fats and Matt so I knew what was instore for me on the day and to say I was excited is an absolute understatement. Beautiful bride, gorgeous groom and stunning venue…. what more could a photographer ask for right? Right! Fats and Matt's day was a photo dream come true - I got to mix a bit of my love for photodocumentary style with a little bit of editorial to create a gallery that really captured their love story in a way that made me relive the day over and over again. Beautifully over and over. Kind of like a sweet tasting treat you just cant get enough of.

The ladies got ready in the upstairs older side of the house and the light airy room gave everyone enough space and air to breathe, relax and have a chilled beautiful morning of prep. Click on the images below to see more of the bride tribe prep.

Fatima's choice of décor was as elegantly sophisticated as she is and would be any bride to be's dream. The reception hall was the epitome of decadent elegance. Gently draped in a bath of orchids and candles to create the most beautiful soft white ethereal feeling of romance. The overall vibe was nothing short of spectacular.

The Gents arrived just on time and we got to take Matthew to a side bar to open a special letter and gift box from Fatima. His emotions were real and this certainly didn’t help the nerves, so here we are Fats - those much anticipated shots of Matthew reading his letter!

When it was time for the Buff Gym Boys to get ready, we got to play a game of how many chaps does it take to tie a tie? Can you Guess? Three? Five?……..well the answer is…….

.

.

resort to Google instead! We had such a good laugh with this eye candy barrage of beaus in their moment of tie knot trauma. .

The Groomsmen made for one seriously handsome set of photos. It was great to see Matthew relax and chill with his friends.

The girls were a reverie of calm and Fatima was a sight to behold.

Fatima entrance to the grand hall had us all gasping at how ravishing she looked….. Seeing the bride tribe's face and Fatima's Dad as she walked down the stairs was absolutely priceless. These images have been kept for Fatima and Matts personal video montage - so here are some images of how amazing Fatima looked making her grand reveal.

The ceremony was a beautiful, humorous and intimate affair that really spoke to the unique specialness of Fatima and Matthews relationship. Seeing the absolute adoration in Matthews face as his future wife walked down the aisle was priceless. What stood out for me in such a special way was seeing Matthews values and respect come through - it was like he knew he wasn’t allowed to kiss Fatima until the official moment so the best way of restraining himself was to keep kissing her hands in a respectful show of his emotions and utter love for her. Any mother (like me) watching this could only hope one day their little girl has a man doing the same to their daughter. Real. Romantic. Utterly Beautiful. and exactly why we love doing what we do so much!

Matthews speech was so heartfelt it left most of us a little teary-eyed. A beautiful way to culminate the official part of the day, and let the party get started in true Princess Phats style….. Queen!!! Thank you to an amazing couple for letting me document your day - it was an honour to be a part such an incredible day.

Bianca & Ruan | 14th September 2019 | When Two Hearts Became One.

“I could not tell you if I loved you the first moment I saw you, or if it was the second or third or fourth. But I remember the first moment I looked at you walking toward me and realized that somehow the rest of the world seemed to vanish when I was with you.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

Listening to Ruan's Speech and dedication of Love, pure beautiful and romantic words straight from the heart confirmed for us just how special these two and their love really was. We knew this the moment we met them at our coffee meet many moons back already. But to see it. Feel it. and Capture it - well that really was something to behold.

This wasn’t just another wedding day for a couple. This amazing day was a wedding celebrated emotionally by each and every person who was there. Including us.

Ruan and Bianca chose to get married at De La Mas Venue down Lynwoood Road, Pretoria. Perfectly apt for this amazing couple. The venue had gorgeous lighting and ample opportunity to make prettiness out of Ruan and Bianca and the bridal party. Bianca went to so much effort with her mum to make much of the décor herself, and along with the event planners at De La Mas - everything was just picture perfect.

Capturing the Bride Tribe and the Groomsmen getting ready was an absolute blast. From the calm serene girls to the boys in absolute pandemonium by the time it was shirts and belts time. Fun all round and spontaneity to the max. And Ruan, true to form - had a little special surprise for Bianca which almost caused the make-up artist to have to redo her mastery! ;)

Here is a sneak of the festivities before Bianca got ready…… (Click on the arrow to see more)

Bianca made the most breathtakingly beautiful Bride. Here are some portraits of her getting ready. Click to see more….

The Ceremony was absolutely stunning. With Ruan's own father, Mr Fullard Snr. giving the sermon - the mood and atmosphere was one of love and best intentions all around. The group prayer was one of the most humbling and beautiful human-led actions I’ve seen in a long time and it was absolutely befitting to a couple who so dearly love, and in return are dearly loved.

The Bridal Party were so much fun and this Couple Shoot was absolute magic. The best moments came when Ruan didn’t realise I was still going click… we used golden hour to the best we could before the magic MARRIED couple had to make their entrance in the hall. Its one thing to capture love. Its an entirely, incredibly insanely beautiful thing to capture the reciprocity of love when it exudes from both of 'the team’ like rays of sunshine. Ruan and Bianca made their day a gloriously golden sunny day indeed.

Its with a truly grafetul and happy heart, that I thank you Mr & Mrs Fullard for allowing me to capture your day. I hope you love looking at these photos time and time again as much as I loved taking them. Wishing you both a blissfully happy life of married togetherness.

An Ethereal Elopement - Phumi and Vanessa

If I had a flower for every time thought of you… I could walk through my garden forever.
— Alfred Tennyson

Phumi and Vanessa wanted something different. And something incredibly special. When they came to us to ask to shoot this amazing and secret elopement for them - we couldn’t resist getting the phenomenal team at Cachet Creative involved.

Vanessa’s favourite colour is purple. So we decided to take full advantage of this. They wanted something romantic, and something different - with a little celebration for two.

And so we came up with “Elope in the Jacarandas’ with street photography vibes ‘modern’ it up and to personalise it we brought in Phumi’s favourite gin Six Dogs Blue and Vanessa’s love of Ice-Cream by arranging an intimate space for them to chill at Aroma Gelato
